The Stover & Company story begins long before we opened our doors in 1948. Grace Stotler & George E. Stover met & married in 1918 but even before they met, they both had baking in their blood.
George & Grace Stover welcome home their first & only child, John "Chuck" Charles Stover.
George E. Stover partners with a local businessman to open a wholesale bakery distribution center located in Braddock, PA. Stover & Andrews offers deliveries for local bakeries within 30 miles of the facility.
After four successful years in business George decides to buy out his partner. The business officially becomes the Stover & Company that you know & love today.
While pursuing a Business Degree, Chuck Stover meets Joan Hoffman & the two wed in September. They settle in Plum Creek close to family while Chuck begins his career as the second generation at Stover & Company.
Chuck & Joan Stover welcome their first child, George O. Stover on January 1st, 1956. A few short years later the Stover family welcomes James "Jim" Stover then their baby girl Linda Stover.
After Martin Luther King Jr's assassination, protesters & arsonists began to set fires to businesses in Braddock.
Chuck Stover acted quickly & built a new warehouse in Cheswick, PA. Within three weeks of the move, arsonists set the former warehouse up in flames, not once, not twice but three times.
Chuck's sons George & Jim Stover join the family business as the third generation starting in the warehouse to learn the business from the ground up.
Both the business & the family continue to grow. George & his wife, Cathy, welcome two children George "Ryan" Stover & Krissy Stover. Linda Stover's husband Mike Mitchell joins the team in 1985 shortly before the birth of their children Chelsie & Grant.
Stover & Company is now owned by the third generation of Stovers.
The new millennium brings on new changes as George's children Ryan & Krissy officially join the Stover & Company team as the fourth generation.
The fourth generation continues to grow as Chelsie's husband Nick Rivett begins to work at the Stover & Company warehouse.
Led by Ryan Stover's desire for innovation, Stover & Company launches our ecommerce platform allowing customers from anywhere in the world to shop our products from the comfort of their own home.
Stover & Company restructures the business to allow the fourth generation to take the reins. Ryan Stover transtions into the role of CEO & President, Krissy (Stover) Hill becomes CAO & Vice President, and Nick Rivett becomes CFO & Vice President.
After 73 years in the industry, Stover & Company launches not one, but TWO of our very own exclusive brands: Stover's Sweet Shoppe & Eleven o'one
We're more excited than ever for what the future has in store. From developing & manufacturing our own products, to growing our distribution network, we don't plan to slow down any time soon!
